Moved to her heavenly home May 25, 2008. Carolyn was born to Carl and Esther Bachman on Aug. 29, 1915. She married Anthony Emery Oct. 29, 1934. After Anthony’s death, Carolyn married Ed Gerler on April 27, 1975. Carolyn’s nickname was Kay, which was short for "Knockout," given to her by Anthony. Carolyn was predeceased by her brother, Glen (Rose) Bachman; and sister, Lurene (Euel) Skelton. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Ruth (Chuck) Moore of Pueblo; and her children, Kenneth (Barbara) Emery of College Station, Texas, Douglas (Andrea) Emery of Pueblo West, Margaret (Jim) Whitmire, Jim (Carol) Gerler of Pueblo, Ed (Muffin) Gerler of Raleigh, N.C. Carolyn is also survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Emery of Gloversville, N.Y., Rebecca (Chuck) Goessel of Simpsonville, S.C., Benjamin of College Station, Texas, Sterling (Janele) Watson, Robin (Steve) Vaughn, Jessica (Mike) Lucas, all of Pueblo, Brianna and Raegen Emery of Pueblo West, Maryann (Brett) Bader of Albuquerque, N.M., Lynn Whitmire and Brad Gerler of Pueblo. Carolyn had 11 great-grandchildren and also a special nephew, David (Kayoko) Morton. She graduated from Central High School in 1933 and was a member of the Stillman Lassies Marching Band. Carolyn worked for Kress and Crews Beggs department stores, Phillips’ music company and the Thatcher Ranch until retiring. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church and a member of Priscilla Aldins and she served as treasurer for many years. Our heartfelt thanks to the special people who cared for Carolyn during her last days: Kim Lacey, Chuck Moore, Saundra Smith and Jan Craig.
